Charming miniature map of the Maldives, depicted as square-shaped blocks of islands. Pierre Duval was Nicolas Sanson's nephew and pupil. He published a wide range of atlases and individual maps including a fine miniature world geography with many of the maps based on Sanson.

Attractive color on watermarked paper with light toning along centerfold and a hint of offsetting. There is a stain in right blank margin, away from image.
