A stunning map of the Persian empire based on Ortelius' map of the same title. The map is centered on Persia, and it also shows present-day Iraq and Afghanistan, and the Indus River. It is filled with scores of place names, details of the Persian Gulf, and charming pictorial detail of topography and cities. The Caspian Sea is given a horizontal oval shape. A pair of strapwork cartouches embellish the map. Latin text on verso.

Condition: B+

A bright, clean example with attractive color and professional repairs along the centerfold, to a tear that enters 3" into map at top, and to a short tear in bottom blank margin.
