This striking map focuses on the Strait of Gibraltar. Southern Spain and northern Africa are shown in detail, with cities, mountains, forts, farmland, and roads located. Sailing ships are depicted in the Atlantic and Mediterranean. Soundings and anchorages also appear in the water. An inset at right provides a more detailed look at Gibraltar, especially its fortifications. The decorative cartouche at top includes the title on a lion skin stretched between two columns.
