Striking example of Visscher's rare map of Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, and portions of Belarus, Ukraine and Russia, extending south to the Black Sea. Visscher attributes the cartography to Nicolas Sanson. The map includes a lot of topographic detail and as well as the cities of Kiev, Minsk, Warsaw, Krakow and Vienna. A strapwork cartouche fills the Baltic Sea and features wind heads, the pelt of a spotted cat, and sheaths of bows and arrows.
