"[Lot of 3] Danish Islands in the North Atlantic Ocean [and] Denmark [and] Denmark",

A. Danish Islands in the North Atlantic Ocean, by A. Fullarton & Co., from The Royal Illustrated Atlas, Of Modern Geography..., circa 1872, printed color (12.7 x 18.5"). This sheet features two maps, the first showing Iceland and the second the Faroe Islands. The map of Iceland, drawn by Augustus Petermann and engraved by G.H. Swanston, depicts mountains, glaciers, snowfields, fjords, and hot and mineral springs. The elevations of the mountains (in feet) can be found in a list within the neatline. The Faroe Islands map, engraved by Swanston, similarly captures the topography of the land and shows many fjords and towns. Surrounding the plates are a series of fascinating vignettes showing figures in tradition Icelandic garb, Mount Hecla, and reindeer, a seal, and other regional wildlife. Condition: Additional hand coloring has been added to the illustrations. Attractive color with minor toning along the sheet's edges and a couple of tiny chips at left.

B. Denmark, by John Thomson, from New General Atlas, circa 1814, hand color (23.6 x 20"). This large-scale map of Denmark includes Schleswig and Holstein, and contains insets of the Faroes and Iceland. Condition: A fine impression in original color with very faint off-setting. There are two small pieces of non-archival tape on the verso, not affecting map image.

C. Denmark, by J.H. Colton & Co., dated 1855, hand color (11.9 x 14.7"). A finely engraved steel-plate map that details the country with excellent detail throughout. The legend lists railroads, canals, battle fields and more. A note itemizes Iceland's ports that are now open to foreign trade. Three insets detail the outlying islands of Bornholm, Iceland, and the Faroes. Condition: One minute hole in image, only visible when held up to light, and some soiling in the blank margins.
