Handsome and detailed map of the Caribbean extending from southern Florida and the Bahamas to the Lesser Antilles and the northern coast of South America. Several large islands make up the tip of the Florida peninsula. The map provides a particularly good view of the Bahamas. The large decorative title cartouche features a ship, fishing nets, shells and a trio of wind-heads. This is the first state. It was published in 1757 as part of the first edition.

References: Pedley #476.

Condition: B+

Fine original outline color, a sharp impression, and wide original margins. Very good except for a couple insignificant spots and a printer’s crease along the upper centerfold.

Estimate: $400 - $500
