"Terra d'Otranto tratta dalle Carte del Sigr. Rizzi Zannoni", Zatta, Antonio

This attractive copper-engraved map shows the region just north of the Gulf of Taranto, based on a survey by Rizzi Zannoni, a famous astronomer, surveyor & mathematician. The map depicts mountains, rivers, roads, and numerous towns, including Taranto, Lecce, Brindisi, Matera and Altamura. Mt. Olivaro, Mr. Sanizzo, and several other mountains are also named. A beautiful title cartouche is positioned in the Gulf, decorated with leaves and flowers. Engraved by Giovanni Pitteri and Giuliano Zuliani.

Original color on watermarked paper with full, original margins. There is a hint of toning at top, a few light spots, and some tiny worm tracks along centerfold.
