The handsome title page is from Ortelius' supplemental atlas of the classical world. It is beautifully engraved with a man holding a celestial globe on the left and a woman with a terrestrial globe on the right. Above are allegorical figures representing the waters of the earth on the left and land, clouds, and wind on the right, who flank a snake with a pile of books, signifying wisdom. Text above the figures translates to "foolishness in the eyes of God." Latin text on verso.
