This is a particularly graphic plan-view of Messina with the important fortifications, walls, palaces and lighthouses depicted. Ships and fishing boats are pictured in the sea and army drills are illustrated in the surrounding countryside.

A dark, but slightly uneven impression at bottom, with faint damp stains confined to blank margins.
