This very uncommon advertising note was issued for the North Missouri Railroad to promote the rail line from St. Louis to St. Joseph. It is finely engraved on front and back and imitates paper currency in size and appearance. The front has an illustration of a passenger train at a station flanked by an Indian maiden figure at the left and a figure of a boy on the right handing out papers promoting railroad farm land. Three railroad executive signatures fill the bottom, including the President Isaac H. Sturgeon at right, and the number 40 is located at upper right and left. The back, printed in green, has a map of the line from St. Louis to St. Joseph showing distances between stops. The text at left mentions gold mines and "all points in the Great West." Printed on thin banknote-style paper.

Condition: B+

There are a number of very fine extraneous creases and some minor foxing near the left and right side margins.

Estimate: $140 - $180
