This nautical world map, engraved by Girolamo Porro, was one of two world maps included in Porcacchi's popular pocket-sized atlas. It covers most of the world, excluding far eastern Asia and the western coast of North America; thus alluding to a connection between the two. The Terra Incognita landmass dominates the bottom of the map. The handsome map is filled with rhumb lines and the seas are fully stippled. Printed on a full sheet (7.5 x 11.5") of Italian text. (6.8 x 10.3").

A nice impression with light toning and marginal soiling. There is manuscript writing above map, and right blank margin has been reinforced with tissue.
