Dr. Playfair (1738-1819), was a minister, historiographer to the Prince of Wales, and Principal of the United College of St Salvator and St Leonard in the University of St Andrews from 1799 until his death. The maps from Playfair's A New General Atlas are quite scarce. This well engraved double-page chart that shows the whole Caribbean Basin to include parts of Florida, Yucatan and northern South America. Fancy titling in scroll lettering. Engraved by H. Cooper and published by Macredie, Skelly & Co.
