A) American Broadsides, Prints and Maps by The Rosenbach Company, published 1948, black & white, (6 x 9"). This is an interesting look at the antique items available at the time (and their prices) from this firm with showrooms in Philadelphia and New York. 68 pp. Blue paperback. Condition - the cover is slightly chipped but the pages are good. (B+)

B) A Collection of Maps Printed and in Manuscript Issued Prior to 1795 Relating to North America Including Some Extraordinary Revolutionary War Maps by Charles F. Heartman, published 1931, (7 x 10.5"). This is a paper auction catalog with 72 pp. describing 161 rare maps available for auction and includes a loose bid sheet. Condition - the cover is slightly chipped but the pages are mostly clean. (B)

C) The World-Renowned Hauslab-Liechtenstein World Global Map of 1507 by Martin Waldseemuller: The Only Known Copy of the First Published Globular Map of the Western Hemisphere and the First Globular Map on Which the Name America Appears... by Parke-Bernet Galleries, published 1950, black & white, (8 x 11.5"). This is a 20 pp. auction brochure with a double-page full-scale illustration of the map, which is actually 12 gores to make up a globe. This map is the first use of the word America, and the first printed portrayal of the Earth as a globe. The map was offered with a reserve of $50,000. At the time of the auction it was thought to be the only extant copy. On June 8, 2005 Christies (London) sold a copy of the 1507 map for £545,600 / $1,002,267, a world record price for any single-sheet map at auction. Paper covers. Condition - covers slightly tattered along the edges, but pages are excellent. (A)

D) Uncommon Value: A rare book dealer's world by Frank Manasek, published 1995, black & white, (6 x 9.5"). Manasek's travels in search of antiquarian books, maps and other items have taken him around the world and he shares with us his insights on finding, buying, pricing and selling fine antiquarian items. He also shares his impressions of the dealers, collectors, and other fauna of the auction, bookshop and bookfair world. 146 pp., hardbound in red cloth covers with gilt title on spine and glossy paper dust jacket. (A+)

E) American Maps 1795-1895: A Guide to Values by K.A. Sheets, published 1994, black & white, (8.5 x 11"). A price listing of maps of America, the United States, and territories by American commercial cartographers. 160 pp. with 56 illustrations. Hardbound in blue cloth covers with gilt title on front cover and spine, with dust jacket. Condition - cover has slight wear but the book is flawless. (A)
