These copper-engraved views are from Stoopendaal's De zegepraalende Vecht, a famous series of views of rich country houses and gardens along the river Vecht. The series depicts the large classical gardens of the period along with the country houses that were built in the last decennia of the Dutch Golden Age. The top view shows a fountain and a Russian bath house amongst an orange grove, while the bottom view shows a grand alley surrounded by trees with a fountain barely visible in the distance.
