Currier and Ives was a printmaking company based in New York City from 1834-1907, producing lithographs that were hand colored by the firm. The focus of their work was American life, cities and people, and they often employed celebrated artists of the day to render drawings to be reproduced in print form. This beautiful panoramic view of Hudson River shows Storm King Mountain and Cornwall in the distance. Women and children sit on the porch of Ruggle's house, overlooking the busy Hudson River below, filled with sailing ships and a paddle steamer. The imprint at lower right shows Currier and Ives address at 152 Nassau St. New York.
