1) 1.Cocotier. 2. Cocos. 3.Figueira. 4. Bananes, by Schley, from Prevost's Histoire Generale Des Voyages, circa 1760, (6.8 x 7.8"). Copper engraving details the coconut palm, cutaway of a coconut, bananas and the banana tree. On a full sheet of hand laid paper. (A)

2) Ananas de deux pieds deux pouces et demy de hauteur, noncompris le pot., by J.B. Oudry, engraved by Guelard, circa 1730, (7.7 x 5.5"). This copper engraved plate shows a mature pineapple plant in a pot. At upper right is "To. 2. Entr. 8. P. 212." Jean-Baptiste Oudry (1686 - 1755) was a French rococo painter, engraver, and tapestry designer. He well known for his naturalistic pictures and still life's. He turned down offers to work for Czar Peter the Great and the King of Denmark, preferring to remain in his homeland of France. (A)

3) Tachyphone Archeveque suo un regime de Bananieu, circa 1840 (6.8 x 10.3"). This engraving is meant to feature the bird, but is actually an excellent still life study of the banana fruit. (A).

4) Branch d'un Arbre-a-pain avec des Fruits., engraved by Benard, circa 1780, (6.5 x 8.5"). Still life detailing three breadfruits on their branch with surrounding leaves. Breadfruit was discovered for the Europeans in Tahiti by Captain James Cook during his first excursion to the South Pacific. (A)

5) Maize, circa 1850, (7 x 11"). This highly detailed still life of corn is of unknown origin. Blank verso. With a little toning at edges and the right edge appears to be trimmed into the border. (B)
