This lot is composed of a great set of engravings from Captain Cook's voyage, La Perouse and others.

A View of Snug Corner Cove, in Prince William's Sound, Capt. Cook, (14.8 x 9"), 1784. This large engraving is from Cook's third voyage. It is based on the drawing by John Webber and engraved by W. Ellis. It is from the atlas volume of Cook's A Voyage to the Pacific Ocean. Undertaken, by the Command of His Majesty, for Making Discoveries in the Northern Hemisphere... Shows a large number of men in row boats with Cook's two ships further back with an enormous group of snow covered mountains in the background. (B+)

Vue d'un Etablissement des Habitans du Port des Francais Pour la Saison de la Peche, by Blondela, from Atlas du Voyage de la Perouse, circa 1792, (15.8 x 10.5"). This large copper engraving is plate No. 21 from the atlas volume to the Voyage de la Perouse. Drawn by Lieut. Blondela and engraved by Le Grand, it is an excellent depiction of a small Native settlement. Shows three structures, a large canoe, fish drying and other day-to-day activities. (A)

Canoes of Oonalashka, Capt. Cook, (9.5 x 7.3"), 1784. This large engraving is from Cook's third voyage. It is based on the drawing by John Webber and engraved by W. Angus and is from the atlas volume of Cook's A Voyage to the Pacific Ocean. Undertaken, by the Command of His Majesty, for Making Discoveries in the Northern Hemisphere... This is probably the first western depiction of the Kayak. It is highly detailed showing both the one man and two man skin covered kayaks. (B+)

The Victorys' Crew Saved by the Isabella, by Captain J. Ross, 1834, (6.2 x 4.7"). Shows the crew on three small sailboats approaching the Isabella under full sail. In the foreground are icebergs, sea birds and a walrus. (B+)

Christian's Monument. Hamilton's Bay and Island, by Captain J. Ross, 1834, (6.2 x 4.5"). Shows the rock monument surmounted by the British Flag. A portion of the 3-masted Isabella is in the background with extensive ice fields beyond. (B+)
