This is the scarce 1863 edition of the map (copyright date 1855) updated to show the current borders of the five territories. Nevada's eastern boundary runs along the 115 meridian, west of its current position. Several counties cross over the territorial boundary between Arizona and New Mexico, and Arizona incorporates the southern tip of Nevada. The Spanish trail leading from the Pueblo de los Angeles California to Abiquia, N.M. is shown, as are the Pony Express route, and the expeditions of Kearny, Gunnison and Fremont. Filled with Indian place names including the location of major pueblos. Surrounded by a decorative strapwork border.
