This fine map illustrates Sicily's strategic position in the Mediterranean. It extends from the southeast coastline of Sardinia to Calabria, and south to show the Tunisian coastline. The Aeolian Islands and Malta are well detailed, and the volcanoes of Stromboli and Aetna are graphically noted as active. The title cartouche is set within clouds with putti displaying the arms of Italy and Sicily.


Condition: B+

Original color with faint toning along centerfold. The map has been professionally backed with light Japanese tissue to repair the lower centerfold and a few edge tears, not near the map.
