These original leaves are from a rare book containing the office of the Catholic Mass printed in Venice. This book was published during the period of transition from manuscript to printing and incorporates the illuminated manuscript tradition with woodcut illustrations within the large initials. Three of the leaves include historiated initials and the other two leaves contain calendars for January/February and September/October. The text is printed in red and black ink and the woodcuts were colored by hand.
