This is the only chart of Norfolk published by the USCS. It provides great detail of the waterfront in Portsmouth, the Gosport Navy Yard, and Norfolk with streets shown in a grid pattern.. The channel is well charted with many soundings, iso-depth lines, buoys, and more. The fortified Fort Norfolk is clearly shown. With a large magnetic compass rose and extensive notes. Triangulation by E. Blunt and the hydrography by the Party under the command of J.J.. Almy, Lieut.
