Beautiful map of East Frisia and its important shipping center of Emden and the Watten Islands, from the cartography of Ubbo Emmius, a local cartographer and historian (1547-1625). An inset shows the region inundated by the great flood on Christmas Day, 1277. Finely adorned with cartouches, animals, Neptune, sea monsters, ships, surveyors, a compass rose and two elaborate coats of arms. English text on verso.
