This is a very early miniature map of the Bay of Bengal and the delta of the Ganges River. Calcutta (Calecota) and Chittagong (Bengala) are located along with numerous other settlements. The maps of this rival to Ortelius' pocket atlas were engraved by two of the finest Flemish engravers: brothers-in-law Jodocus Hondius and Pieter van den Keere. This map doesn't have an engraver's signature. Dutch text on verso.
