Great bird's-eye plan of ancient Jerusalem after Juan Bautista Villalpando's plan. Engravings of temple vessels, religious icons, Solomon and a high priest flank the plan. At the top is a large elevation of the Temple of Solomon. This map was originated by Bastiaan Stoopendaal in 1688. The plate was revised by Daniel Stoopendaal and then re-engraved by Jan van Jagen in circa 1748. This appears to be an intermediate state as compared to those listed by Poortman & Augusteijn. There is no engraver's signature and the name Nehemiae still appears in its Latin form in the imprint (as opposed to Nehemia in the van Jagen plate). Dutch text on verso.

References: Poortman & Augusteijn #143.

Condition: B+

There are a few minor spots in the map and small tissue repairs on minor fold separations.
