First state of this splendid map depicting the travels of St. Paul throughout the Eastern Mediterranean based on various sources. The title cartouche is flanked by two Biblical views including the shipwreck of the Apostle Paul at Malta. At the bottom is a verse of scripture from St. Paul's letters (Corinthians, 2:5). The Mediterranean Sea is highlighted with a pair of sea monsters and sailing ships. Latin text on verso.

Condition: B+

There is some printer's ink residue at lower left and some minor offsetting at top. Two small worm holes in the bottom border have been infilled. There are tissue hinge remnants on verso.
