This uncommon map shows the world known to the ancients and illustrates the extent of the travels of Phoenician navigators who were to have sailed as far as Iceland and to Sri Lanka (Toprobana). Place names are given in Latin and Hebrew. A wild horse is shown on the Russian steppes and a camel in western Africa, and the large title cartouche shows Phoenicians and exotic animals.
