Lot contains title page and portrait from Volume I of the second edition by Edmond Gibson, "Rector of Lambeth; and now Bishop of London, and Dean of His Majesty's Chapel-Royal." The first sheet is a bust portrait of Camden in full ceremonial dress with miter, surrounded by a bold circular frame resting on an architectural pedestal. The page is further embellished with coat-of-arms at bottom of the frame and other symbols at upper corners. Dated 1623 and engraved by R. White. The title page is printed in black and red type surrounded by neatline. At the bottom is a long list of names for whom the book was printed.

The portrait is very good (A). The title page has some light scattered foxing (B+).
