Superbly decorated map of Scotland including the Orkney and Hebrides islands, based on Visscher, per the cartouche. The map is filled with superb detail of towns, cities, markets, universities, and meticulously rendered topography. The map is decorated with title and distance scale cartouches and the royal coats-of-arms of both Scotland and Britain. The title cartouche is flanked by the mythical figures of Mercury (messenger of the gods) and Ceres (symbolizing abundance).
