Beautifully engraved map of the English colonies from Pennsylvania through Penobscot Bay in Maine with their early boundaries. The colonies are shown confined east of the Allegheny Mountains, with the Indian nations and villages and several French forts located west of the mountains. The map extends to show Lake Ontario and most of Lake Erie. New York is oddly portrayed as a narrow region sandwiched between New England and the Nations Iroquoises. A flourishing French rococo-style cartouche decorates the map.
