This rare, early geological map was published in Volume VI of the American Journal of Sciences, 1823. Inset legend provides color coding for 15 types of rock. Along the right side is a full-length "Profile crossing the strata at right angles from Shelburne to the mouth of Miller's River." Engraved by A. Dolittle and fully hand colored with a skillful hand. This is the first geological map of Connecticut according the listing in Marcou.

Some light scattered foxing and a little offsetting. The right edge is trimmed just into the profile, as issued.
