This finely engraved copper-plate map of the German Empire includes parts of present-day Belgium, Czech Republic, Austria and Poland. The map (10.2 x 9.2") is flanked by two columns of French text and surrounded by a wide rococo-style frame with students studying geography and cartographic instruments. The map and decorative border were printed from two separate plates and assembled with the text for this beautiful atlas. Map is fully colored, cartouche and decorative border uncolored.
Full margins with original hand coloring and nice impression. Edge tears, a trace of toning along centerfold, else very good.
