Period: 1636 (circa)
Color: Hand Color
19.5 x 14.8 inches
49.5 x 37.6 cm
Lovely map of the mountainous region of Savoy extending to include Geneva. Several towns are prominently shown on the map including Grenoble, which is depicted in a small plan-view at lower left. The map is ornamented with strapwork title and scale cartouches. The map was engraved by Abraham Goos and drawn by Jodocus Hondius, with their imprints at bottom. Latin text on verso.
There is a minor extraneous crease in the map and some tears in the margins, one of which is closed with archival tape.
