Charming title page from this miniature version of Ortelius' great atlas. The title is set in an architectural framework with the female representations of Geography and Hydrography flanking the title. Seven portraits of important geographers are arrayed across the top, with celestial and terrestrial globes and a compass at bottom. The text was written by Michael Coignet and it was published by Jan B. Vrients. Latin text on verso.

Condition: C+

The sheet is backed with Japanese tissue and there is damage along the left binding side. Manuscript brown ink inscription below.
