These lovely fashion plates are from La Mode Illustree, one of the best known French fashion magazines published in the latter part of the nineteenth century. Distributed on a weekly basis, each issue featured a description of Victorian fashions and related accessories. They are superb steel engravings with extremely fine hand-coloring.
An attractive group of beautiful fashion plates showing dresses, hats and accessories for the up-scale 19th century woman. One plate, dated 1896, is a chromolithograph.
