This handsome map of Luxembourg is from the Cloppenburgh edition of the Mercator pocket atlas. It is based on the oldest known survey of Luxembourg conducted by Jacques de Surhon for Emperor Charles V in 1551. The map was engraved by Petrus Kaerius with his imprint next to the title cartouche. Latin text on verso.
There is some paper restoration in blank margins, not affecting the map. The impression in the border is slightly irregular.
