This is a great nineteenth century tourist guide purporting to contain "a full and authentic description of over five hundred cities, towns, villages, stations, government forts and camps, mountains, lakes, rivers, sulphur, soda and hot springs, scenery, watering places, summer resorts; where to look for and hunt the buffalo, antelope, deer and other games; trout fishing, etc., etc." The book is filled with woodcut illustrations and small maps. There are two large folding maps included:
Crofutt's New Map of the Trans-Continental, American, & Trans-Continental, European, Route around the World is in full color and shows a round-the-world route complete with a table of distance (23,411 miles), time (79 days) and fare ($1,145) (36.8 x 18")
Map of the Great Trans-Continental Railroad and its Connections from the Missouri River to the Pacific Coast is an uncolored map/timetable of the Union Pacific railroad route (27 x 6").
16mo, 215 pages, third volume, second revised edition. Hardbound in original green cloth covered boards with gilt title on front.

Condition: A

In remarkable condition for this type of book. The maps have a tiny bit of foxing and some archival tape reinforcements to some folds on verso. Text pages are good to very good with an occasional smudge. There is minimal rubbing to covers and spine.
