"[Lot of 7 - Flowers]", Maund, Benjamin
Period: 1850 (circa)
Publication: The Book of Hardy Flowers… Vol. II
Color: Hand Color
6.5 x 8.2 inches
16.5 x 20.8 cm
Seven plates, each comprised of four illustrations, still bound in this lovely volume. Each vividly colored plate is followed by several pages of text describing the four flowers depicted. As beautiful and visually pleasing as these hand colored engravings are, they are also an important botanic resource, as a small portion of each was left uncolored so that the viewer may more readily see the leaf and flower structure. Hardbound in marbled paper and brown leather with raised spine, tooling and gilt titling. Marbled foredges. 8vo. Sold as a collection of plates, as the volume is incomplete.
Plates and text very good with minor age toning. Covers are rubbed and a bit shelf worn. Spine and binding very good.
