A simple plan of the Portuguese islands of Madeira and Porto Santo with rhumb lines and a partial compass rose. The island of Porto Santo was the home of Christopher Columbus before he traveled to the Americas. He married Filipa Moniz Perestrello, daughter of the Porto Santo governor, Bartolomeo Perestrello, and his son Diego was born there in 1481.
A nice impression on a sheet with some faint marginal soil.
