This is the first edition of the atlas volume containing 14 double page maps intended to accompany Ropes' "Campaign of Waterloo--A Military History". The maps are heliotype reproductions taken from Charra's "Atlas of the Campaign" and Jomini's "Atlas of the Wars of the Revolution." Each show the positions and movements of the Anglo, Prussian and French armies during the campaign. A few maps feature color overprinting. Charles Scribner's Sons, New York. Complete folio atlas hardbound in original blue cloth, with pebble cloth spine and tips, and gilt title on front. An uncommon atlas.
Contents very good with some unobtrusive residual printer's ink and light age toning. There is a signature in ink on title page well above printing. Covers a bit soiled, rubbed and lightly bumped. Spine is worn at the extremities, but still sound.
