This scarce woodblock map is a highly imaginative biblical depiction of Paradise. It covers the region from the Nile Delta to the Persian Gulf and northward to modern Turkey. Adam and Eve stand at the Tree of Knowledge at the center of the map, and the crossing of the Red Sea is depicted. The only cities located are Babylon and Gaza. This leaf is from "Biblia Sacra," printed in Strassburg by Johannes Schottus (John of Scotland). The map is on a page of Latin text (8 x 6.7") with a blank verso.
