Beautiful map illustrates French Flanders in what is now southern Belgium and northern France. The map is centered on Lille and includes Le Bassee, Douay, Tournay and Courtray. This masterpiece of the engraver's art is notable for its elaborate heraldic decorative elements that fill three corners and finely engraved title and scale cartouches. Dutch text on verso.
A nicely colored example with a minor stain into the lower part of the map. A fold separation and a tear in the lower margin has been repaired on the verso.
