Splendid large chart of the world on Mercator's projection from this scarce nineteenth century atlas. A panel at bottom features vignette engravings of the races of man, heights of mountains and lengths of rivers. The map is filled with an impressive array of information illustrating the physical and geographical divisions, shipping routes, colonial possessions, roads and railways, and numerous informative notations.
A sound map with original color. There are damp stains at the top and bottom, as well as scattered light foxing. A small tear in the bottom has been repaired with tissue.
