Extremely decorative title page from a French edition of the Blaeu family's famous atlas. The title is printed from a separate plate, and it is flanked with allegorical figures representing the continents, Asia and Europe on the left, and the Americas and Africa on the right. Atop the architectural structure, figures consult globes of the heavens and earth; Apollo and a mythical figure with six lactating breasts are on either side of an armillary sphere; two additional allegorical figures fill the corners. The whole is wreathed in Della Robbia style garlands of fruit and ribbons.
