A terrific set of folding maps showing the evolution of Indian Reservations over a period of 38 years.

1) Map Showing Indian Reservations in the United States West of the 84th Meridian and Number of Indians Belonging Thereto 1881. A finely engraved example that shows existing, proposed and "extinguished" Indian lands in unique colors. This map also shows Indian agencies, Army outposts, towns, railroads and Yellowstone National Park. Washington D.C., 1881. (18 x 13") Some offsetting and light toning. Grade B+.
2) Map Showing the Location of the Indian Reservations within the Limits of the United States and Territories... Shows reservations across the United States and locates towns, railroads, military stations and Indian agencies. Washington D.C., 1885. Some color. (33.5 x 21") Some light toning along edges and a binding tear has been repaired with tape on verso. Grade B+.
3) Map Showing Indian Reservations within the Limits of the United States... Shows reservations across the United States and locates towns, railroads, military stations, schools , asylums and Indian agencies. This map also has insets of Oklahoma, Mission Ind. Res. of California and Alaska. Norris Peters Co. Washington D.C., 1907 (33 x 21"). Some offsetting of the red ink used for the outlining, otherwise fine. Grade B+.
4) Map Showing Indian Reservations in the United States, 1915. Two inset maps, Indian Mis. Res in California and Indian Pueblo Grants in New Mexico. Printed color. U.S.G.S, Washington D.C. (24 x 14.8"). Lightly toned, near fine. Grade A.
5) Indian Reservations West of the Mississippi River 1919. Very detailed showing current and former reservations, schools, hospitals and railroads. Printed color. (38.8 x 26). Some toning along folds, a couple misfolds and an edge tear repaired with tape on verso. Grade B+.
