This fine plan illustrates the fortifications of Juliers (Jülich) showing its strategic location on the banks of the river Rur. Engraved by Herman van Loon for Nicolas de Fer who held the title of Geographer at Louis XIV's court. He was one of the most prolific publishers of plans of European cities in the late seventeenth century.
