This most uncommon advertising map was issued in celebration of Ohio's Centennial by the William N. Whitely Company of Springfield. The map itself is based on the Business Atlas map by Rand, McNally, dated 1888. The title is contained in a large oval cartouche that features a large engraving showing "Whitely's New Steel Mower" being pulled by two spirited and athletic horses. On the verso is a large advertisement for Whitely's Solid Steel Mower and Binder machines. Dated 1889, the advert modestly calls them "The Finest Pair of Machines on Earth." The map folds into original orange paper covers with the dates 1788 -- 1888. The covers are printed in red and black with a birds-eye view of the plant on the front. The inside and back covers also have well rendered views showing the horse drawn mower and binder machines in action. A scarce issue that is not in Phillips Maps of America.
