This beautiful engraving is an horological diagram, remarkable for the elaborately engraved decorative border. At the top is a large cartouche and at bottom is a 32-point wind rose flanked by birds and flowers in an ornate setting. A very unusual cartographic curiosity by Franz Ritter, a German mathematician and astronomer whose works are extremely rare.
