This is an American copper-plate engraved map in its first state. This example shows only five counties - Washington, Hancock, Lincoln, Cumberland, and York - without their boundaries. The northern boundary is shown about 65 miles north of the St. John River, based on Samuel Lewis' map of 1795. Also shown is Mt. Desert Island, Manhegin I, and a very prominent Pownalboro and Portland.

Issued folding. Lower binding edge uneven and close, with some soil and offsetting.
