This is the top sheet of a two-part map covering eastern Canada and Greenland from the bottom of Hudson Bay, northward beyond the Arctic Circle to about 70° N. Latitude. The map has full borders and stands on its own without the other sheet. It includes an interesting depiction of a passage between Lake Winnipeg and Hudson Bay alluding to a possible Northwest Passage to the Pacific. There are many forts and native tribes noted. The map is decorated with a large title cartouche. Second state of the map with the addition of Theatre de la Guerre en Amerique at the top and a date of 1776.
References: Kershaw #474.
Light toning and foxing confined primarily to the blank margins. A small piece of the bottom, blank margin is gone, well away from map. Hinge remnants on verso.
