Samuel Augustus Mitchell's school atlases and geography were published from the 1830s until the 1880s and were among the more commercially successful atlases of their time. Complete with twenty-two full page hand-colored copperplate maps, including Map of the United States, and Map of the British Provinces. A very nicely illustrated example with engraved vignettes, diagrams and statistics. Hardbound, title page, Advertisement, Preface, Contents, index, 110pp.

Usual foxing and soiling, etc. found in school atlases. Covers rubbed and soiled, hinges worn and loosening. Maps generally good with some foxing and toning. Two maps loose with a little roughness at edge.
